So as a season finale, the 4 SSWT guides went to Cornwall ..(where else?) for a team building/ season review / Social day… (and night) ..and what a great day it was. Starting with breakfast at the marvellous trepolandpen.co.uk farm cafe near Launceston (Pronounced ‘Lanson’ by these locals btw!) we then headed to the far west Coast of Cornwall near St Just to be greeted by Ben from cornwallunderground.co.uk who took us underground in the old Wheal Herman mine . What an experience! it was great to see and experience first hand the hand tug tunnels in the mine which stretched back to the 1500s! This can only enhance our story telling of the amazing Cornish mining heritage.
Finally , we headed back to the wonderful community Pub that is the North Inn and Pendeen, where we have been staying when in this area for the last 7 years. We had a useful review meeting to talk about the season and our plans for 2024 and experienced the usual warm welcome from Landlord John, his daughter Jane, Lisa, Marcus etc behind the bar!..and of course to catch up with Lisa’s husband Martin who does our private add on experience tour of the Geevor mine. A memorable day !
