This year we continued to support plantonecornwall.com in their quest to establish new woodlands across the County. Cornwall would have once been almost completely covered with trees, but the combination of grazing animals , clearance for use in mining for timber supporting the tunnels , and historical ship building (1000 oak trees to build a big galleon!!) means that now only 9% of the County has tree cover, compared to a UK wide figure of 13% and a worldwide figure of 31%.
Plant one is committed to planting more trees in Cornwall, and supporting them with ongoing maintenance to help ensure long term survival. We donated for every tour in 2024, and as a result we directly planted 950M2 of woodland (over 10000 ft 2) and planted 120 trees together with the maintenance support for the next 5-7 years. James was delighted to attend a tree planting day recently to help establish a new temperate rainforest on Bodmin Moor.
