This tour visits all the main locations in the West of Cornwall used in filming. The order might change depending on the starting point but will include Botallack, the site of the iconic Wheal Leisure Mine, Gunwalloe, the beach used in the shipwreck scene, Porthgwarra, the gorgeous cove where Demelza spies on Ross swimming, Gwennap Head, those magnificent cliffs which feature extensively in the later series, and Penberth Cove, site of numerous scenes and shown in virtually every episode from series 2 onwards.

Highlights:

Just an additional £95 fee fully inclusive for all passengers! The order we visit will depend on where you are staying, and this will be a 10 hour day probably, but hey...you are on vacation!

  • 09.15: Ross Poldark

    We’ll collect you from your hotel and head straight into Cornwall. Your guide will point out places of interest and tell you all about the history of Cornwall and of course about the life and times of Ross Poldark.

     

  • 10.15: Church Cove, Gunwalloe

    This attractive sandy cove is overlooked by the tiny church of St Winwaloe, dating from the 13th century. The cove was the location for the night time shipwreck scene as well as the setting for the wedding of Doctor Ennis and Caroline in the opening show of series 3.

  • 11.30: Penberth Cove

    The delightful hidden cove used for many scenes from series 2 onwards and latterly as Sawle village in the show.

  • 12.15: Lunch

    The choice is yours – a country pub, cosy cafe or Cornish pasty picnic are all popular options.

  • 13.30: Porthgwarra Beach

    After lunch, we’ll arrive at Porthgwarra Beach, famously the location of the steamy skinny dipping scene from the first series. Once a thriving fishing cove, the crystal clear sea and views from the coastal path are unforgettable.

  • 14.15: Gwennap Head

    The truly spectacular rocky headland where many of the memorable cliff scenes were filmed in the latter series.

  • 15.15: Botallack

    We’ll then take a short drive to Botallack, which forms part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining World Heritage Site. It is also the location for many of the iconic scenes with the mining engine houses perched precariously on the cliff edge. Here you will see the mine used for Ross’s Wheal Leisure mine in the show. You will also learn about the lives of the Cornish tin miners in the time of Captain Poldark.

    17:00 – Return to accommodation.

    Optional Extra: a visit to the Poldark Mine can be added at additional cost.
