Tour Itinerary

Day 1

On this popular option, you’ll see the highlights of historic Plymouth, including world renowned Plymouth Hoe. This Hoe is famous for Sir Francis Drake’s game of bowls. You’ll visit one of the world’s most important lighthouses and take in the breathtaking views of a historical, natural harbour. This tour finishes with a visit to the historic Barbican. Here, you’ll experience the Elizabethan quarter and the extraordinary Grade I listed Royal William Yard.

Day 2

The best way to experience Dartmoor’s unique landscape and history is to get right to the heart of it and explore it on foot. Bill Martin has been walking the moor for more than 30 years, and is still discovering parts of this extraordinary 368 square-mile wilderness. Supplement of £100.

Day 3

This option is perfect for those looking to discover mysterious Dartmoor with its lofty granite tors. You’ll see some iconic Dartmoor ponies and marvel at the landscape that inspired Conan Doyle’s Hound of the Baskervilles. On this half day tour, it is also possible to enjoy a visit to an ancient Bronze Age Settlement as well as getting the chance to experience the infamous Dartmoor prison, as well as Postbridge with its ancient crossing point on the River Dart.

Day 4

A wonderful choice for those looking to visit Bigbury-on-Sea, where we’ll walk or take the unique sea tractor over to the extraordinary Burgh Island. We’ll see the fabulous art deco hotel (open to residents only), whose guests have included Noel Coward, Winston Churchill and Agatha Christie. It is the very location where Christie actually wrote And Then There Were None. This option also heads to Slapton, where you can learn about its dark wartime secret as well as a visit to Dartmouth. Time dependent, this tour can include a one hour river cruise to see Greenway, the summer home of Agatha Christie.

Day 6

This tour of Exeter will introduce you to some of its most prominent sites, including the Cathedral, the Guildhall, the Roman walls, Rougemont Castle and the Quay. Established on the eastern bank of the River Exe, Exeter is steeped in history and the tour will visit places which witnessed the stories of local tribes and Roman soldiers in the Empire’s most westerly British outpost.
