Tim

Tim was born in Exeter in 1966 & grew up in rural East Devon on the Blackdown Hills. He has lived in Devon & Cornwall throughout his life & is married with 2 grown up daughters. He has lived in Plymouth for 25 years & is fiercely proud of the city. His working career has involved extensive travel across the 2 counties working closely with local businesses and the farming community.

Tim is a passionate supporter of all things West Country including several of the region’s sporting teams. He has always been interested in the region’s history & culture and is member of The National Trust, a long-standing former English Heritage member & regular attender at meetings of the Old Plymouth Society.

Tim is an accredited guide through the international tour guide excellence programme

 

Mark

Mark was born in Grampound Road in central Cornwall in 1961. Son of a farmer he has lived his life in Cornwall and is married with a grown-up son and daughter. A very proud Cornishman with a heritage in farming, mining and fishing with relatives in Canada and Australia, his family history can be traced back prior to 1770. His working career in banking largely involved interaction with Farming businesses across Devon and Cornwall.  

A passionate Celt , Mark is as Cornish as they come, and has an in depth knowledge of the County (or should that be Country?. He has been interested in History both local and international since childhood when he was driven about on expeditions with his Grandfather to all parts visiting monuments and sites across Cornwall and beyond. . He is a member of the National Trust and a follower of local sport particularly cricket where he has involvement with both Club and County organisations.

Specialism: Cornwall, Its history and ancient monuments.

Nigel

Born in Manchester …Though we don’t hold that against him (very much!) , Nigel has always had a passion for Devon and Cornwall,having spent almost every holiday here as a child. As soon as he left the corporate world , Nigel moved to Devon to open a B and B in Brixham, which he and his partner Amanda ran for a number of years, building a fantastic reputation. Having sold the business. Nigel started working as a driver guide , and we are delighted he has joined us for the 2023 season.

His passion includes World War 2 history, Manchester United FC and Brixham rugby club.

Specialism: Devon, especially Dartmoor National Park , WW2 history .
