The Sheepdog Experience

Our shepherds, with whom we have exclusive access, are both champion class and have both represented England at Sheepdog trials in international competitions. One is the current Sheepdog Trial Team Captain for England. You will see the inspiring partnership between man and working dog, including allowing novices right up to the dogs that have achieved national competition wins. There will be a chance to participate yourselves!

We will stop at a well known local inn on our return where you will have the choice of a pint of locally brewed ale, or sample a delicious clotted cream tea.

The Devon Sailing Experience

The waters of Plymouth sound are world famous, and here is your chance to spend a half day on a magnificent 38ft sailing boat, crewed by an experienced skipper. You’ll explore the very sound where the Mayflower set sail in 1620, where Captain Cook, Charles Darwin, Sir Frances Drake and many others set off on their historic voyages. There is usually plenty of wind for an exhilarating ride, and we will also anchor off a picturesque Cornish fishing village for a delicious lunch of local produce before some more fantastic sailing and an opportunity to take the helm!

The Cornwall Sailing Experience

The estuary of the River Fal is said to be the third largest natural harbor in the world.
Here you have the opportunity to spend up to 4 hours on a classic 47 ft ketch with an
experienced skipper, and see the fantastic Cornish coast, spot plenty of wildlife and enjoy
some classic local Cornish pasties and other Cornish delights to boot!

The South West Aristocracy Experience

A fantastic opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Manor house of one of the great families of Devon. Lived in by the same family for over 800 years, the owner will personally show you around the Tudor house in a “warts-and-all” tour, and tell you the history of this great estate. See the painting given to the family by Charles 1st, and hear the tales of the ancestors who were Cousins of Sir Walter Raleigh and Sir Humphrey Gilbert!

After the tour, a delicious clotted cream tea will be served in one of the ancient rooms!

The Plymouth Synagogue Tour

The Synagogue in Plymouth is the oldest synagogue still in use in the English-speaking world, built in 1762! This fascinating tour will delve into the history of the building as well as reveal some of the fascinating people associated with the building, including the connection to the woman who created a crisis in the British monarchy!

The Cornish Tin Mine Experience

The Cornish Tin mining industry changed the world, and here is a fantastic chance to experience the life of a Cornish miner, and be shown around one of the last mines to close. Martin worked underground at Geevor Mine for many years, and on this exclusive private tour, he will show you the workings of the mine, tell you countless stories of the Mines and Miners, and even take you underground to see some of the historic 18th Century tunnels and workings.

Devon Cheese and Wine Experience

This is a private guided tour of a well known Vineyard with a tasting amongst the vines. Our private tour starts with a glass or 2 of our classic English sparkling wine and then is followed by a selection of our still wines in the vineyard. Upon returning to the cellar door you will also sample some of our award winning cheeses, all in the magnificent setting of the Devon Countryside.

Cornwall Cheese and Wine Experience

Sample the award winning wines and fruit juices from one of Cornwall leading wine producers. This would include a welcome drink, vineyard tour, winery talk with a first tasting in the tank room, tasting of 4 further wines in the tasting area. this would be helped along by delicious local food of mixed cheese and charcuterie platters with focaccia bread, olives, chutneys, and salads.

Oxford Behind The Scenes Experience

This tour of the Centre of Oxford is conducted by a retired former senior Anglican clergyman from Christ Church Cathedral. Get behind the scenes of some of the famed Oxford Colleges, the cathedral and visit many of the other exquisite buildings in this famed university town.

Cornish Castle and Gardens

This fantastic experience is not to be missed! Your private tour around the Impressive 200 year old Coastal Castle and Gardens at Caerhays starts after the daytime guests have left around 3:30 with a personal welcome by the Castle owner, Charles Williams.
A guided tour of the Castle follows, which was converted from a medieval manor house by the architect John Nash, who also designed London’s Marble Arch. and then Charles will take you on a personal tour of the Magnificent Gardens, “one of the great Woodland gardens of the world” and winner of the historic house’s garden of the year award in 2016. We will finish with drinks with Charles in the magnificent Castle drawing room.

Colwith Farm Distillery Tour and Tasting

A real gem, Colwith Farm is a rare find, as they make their award winning vodka and Gin from scratch using potatoes from their own working farm or local area. Where many producers buy the base spirit in drums, Colwith make their own! The result? Silver medal at the World spirit competition in San Francisco in 2019! Take the 45 minute distillery tour, followed by a tasting, or The Gin masterclass , which takes a half day ..and where you can make your own gin to your own recipe to take away, professionally bottled and labelled.

Knightor Winery

Situated near St Austell, Knightor produces a fantastic selection of sparkling wines, and a spectacularly good Vermouth. You will have a tour of the winery, followed by a tasting of 4 wines and then a slap up lunch of a Cornish ploughman’s or Charcuterie Board.

Meet the Cornish Fisherman Experience

Nigel is a Fisherman , artist and maker of lobster pots and has been fishing out of Cadgwith Cove for over 50 years. Join him on his small boat Razorbill, for a cruise around the spectacular lizard Peninsula Coast. He’ll check some of his lobster pots and you make be lucky to catch one, which you can get cooked for supper at the Cadgwith Cove inn!
He’ll also show you around the cove and you might meet some of the other local characters and hear stories of seafaring and fishing going back generations!
Even better…stay at the pub on a Friday Night and the atmosphere is fantastic as the locals drop in and the Cadgwith Singers perform their heady mix of sea shanties and traditional Cornish songs..not to be missed and an unforgettable experience!

Exclusive Poldark Locations Tour and Accommodation Offer!

Our normal Poldark locations tour concentrates on the well known locations in the far west of the County. There are also a number in the more Easterly areas including, on Bodmin Moor, the House used as Ross and Demelzas home, Nampara in the series. This house is privately owned and normally off limits to Visitors .
However , in an exclusive arrangement with the only person able to access the location, we are delighted to be able to offer a Poldark locations tour which features Nampara !!

1 night on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast basis at the Residence at Bolenna…a fantastic boutique hotel in Perranporth, where Poldark author Winston Graham lived. The evening will also feature a talk about his life in the area, and its Poldark associations.
One day tour to include:

  • Holywell, where many of the beach scenes were filmed , and where Drake and Morwenna visited the Caves,
  • Charlestown, an ancient harbour used as Truro in the show,
  • Exclusive access to the House used as Nampara,
  • A visit to Minions where the famous crossroads in the show is located,
  • Bodmin Jail , dating from Poldarks time its a sinister place where the jail scenes were filmed.

A fantastic opportunity to visit one of the finest Gin producers in the UK , and try your hand at making your own!
At Salcombe Distilling Co.’s outstanding distilling laboratory for adults, you can take charge of a beautiful mini copper pot still to develop and distil your very own 70cl bottle of gin. Learn about how to produce Salcombe Gin and what it takes to produce a well balanced and harmonious gin whilst enjoying a ‘Salcombe & Tonic’.
Create your own gin recipe by choosing from our extensive range of citrus, herbal, floral and spice botanicals ! Our expert distillers will guide you throughout the process including when to make those all important cuts which will influence your spirit’s flavour.
During distillation you will sample and name your unique creation before bottling your gin and placing it in a presentation box with a personalised bottle label. Your experience will conclude in our waterside bar, enjoying an additional measure of your gin with a choice of garnishes and tonics to complement your recipe.
